Hello everyone! Welcome to my website. If you could not already tell, my name is Jasmyne Douglas. I am currently a senior at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Hopefully if everything falls into place accordingly, I will graduate in May of 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a minor in Business Administration. After graduating, I intend to start looking for positions within the field of Public Relations. My ultimate goal is to become a Public Affairs Specialist for the federal government.
The youngest of three children, I was born in a naval hospital in Okinawa, Japan on June 3, 1994. As the daughter of a Command Sergeant Major in the Army, I was accustomed to packing everything up every two to three years and jetting off to a new destination. In total, I have lived on three different continents and in four different countries. Even though it was hard leaving the friends that I had made, I would not trade my experiences for anything.

After 28 years of service, my dad finally decided it was time to retire and venture into civilian life. He chose Cibolo, Texas because it is on the outskirts of San Antonio, which has a strong military presence. Before moving here, when posed the question ìWhere are you from?î like any other military brat, it was difficult for me to respond because the world was literally my hometown. However, after settling down and finding my footing in such a loving community, I can officially call Cibolo my home.
I have always had a passion for writing. Ever since I was able to pick up a pencil, I was creating stories. Even when I did not yet have a grasp of the written English language, I was telling stories through pictures. My interest in writing for newspapers officially started when I was in the seventh grade. I had just moved to Cibolo and was signing up for classes for my first year of junior high. My mother pushed for me to sign up for journalism as one of my electives. However, being a moody, angsty, preteen on the brink of puberty, I was reluctant to join because, honestly, I thought it was lame. Despite my feelings, I joined anyway and it was the best decision I have ever made. I was able to learn things like the foundations of writing, how to design a layout, how to use Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, and most importantly, the ethics and laws that accompany good journalism. From there, I went on to participating in Feature and News Writing in the University Interscholastic League in high school where I lettered and went to regionals all four years. I even placed fifth during the state competition at the University of Texas at Austin during my junior year. I was also named Copy Editor of my high schoolís yearbook staff during my junior and senior years.
